NCWNZ Free Women’s Self-Defence Course: Supporting Awareness for the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence
Empower yourself with practical skills, confidence, and awareness at this free women’s self-defence session, offered by the National Council of Women New Zealand – Wellington Branch to help raise visibility and conversation around the international 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign. With support from the Wellington Hapkido Academy, this workshop provides a safe, inclusive space to learn effective strategies for personal safety.
During this 90-minute session, experienced instructors will guide participants through:
Awareness and Prevention
- Body language
- Situational awareness
- Risk reduction strategies
Physical techniques
- Basic strikes
- Escapes
- Improvised weapons
Scenario practice
- Simulate high stress situations
Event Details
Date: Saturday 29 November 2025 - Session runs 11:00am – 12:30pm.
Location: Court 3, Club K, 65 Salamanca Road, Kelburn
Parking: Available at 65 Salamanca Rd, with additional lower-level parking accessible from within the carpark.
What to Bring & Wear
Clothing: Track pants or similar, crew-neck top
Footwear: Bare feet (training on mats)
Water: Please bring a water bottle
Safety Info: Optional - provide a contact name/number for use only in case of a medical event (kept confidential and destroyed afterwards)
