Event description

The Disability Connection: Accommodation Collaboration Event
The event focuses on fostering Business-to-Business (B2B) interactions to address the challenge of filling vacancies in currently tenanted housing (excluding fully vacant homes). The aim is to bring together service providers to collaborate, share experiences, and develop solutions for vacancy management within their housing portfolios.

Scope and Key Deliverables

Facilitating Collaboration and Discussion:

  1. Creation of event for service providers to openly discuss the challenges and opportunities related to housing vacancies.
  2. Encourage collaboration, idea-sharing and provider housing options, to consolidate vacancy solutions and streamline efforts.

Key Issues to Address:

  1. Oversupply of Housing: Recognise the impact of the current surplus and its influence on vacancies.
  2. Regional Vacancy Analysis: Identify the starting status of vacancies across specific regions to better understand localised challenges.
  3. Ineffectiveness of Current Approaches: Review and discuss existing methods (e.g., Housing Hub listings, direct social media outreach) and analyse why these have not been successful.

Promoting Face-to-Face (F2F) B2B Interactions:

  1. Facilitate in-person meetings to foster stronger connections and collaboration among providers.
  2. Emphasise joint efforts to identify actionable solutions for filling vacancies.

Focus Areas and Locations:

  1. Host events at four strategic locations across Victoria.
  2. Prioritise postcodes where the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) no longer permits new Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) to be developed.

Participant Engagement:

  1. All attendees to contribute actively by completing a comprehensive form detailing current vacancies in their housing portfolios.
  2. Display aggregated data on-site to provide real-time insights and guide discussions effectively.
  3. Ensure attendees cover a flat attendance fee, which includes a meal to support a collaborative and productive environment.
