This third event in the Evidence to Action series focuses on bridging the gap between research and real-world impact, particularly in policy. It builds on our May 2025 session, where Professor Erin Wilson reminded us that knowledge mobilisation starts at the beginning of research, not the end.
It begins at the very start, with people with disability, policy makers, and researchers co-designing research that responds to real needs and can drive real change. This event explores how disability research can be shaped, shared, and used with governments and decision-makers. It asks: what makes that possible and what gets in the way?
Who it’s for: This accessible online event will bring together a diverse audience, including people with disability, family members, researchers, service providers, and government representatives.
Format: The session will trial a revised format based on feedback.
Part one: Main webinar session (11:00 am – 12:00 pm AEST): This part of the event includes a keynote, short provocations, and group reflection. It will be recorded and include Auslan and live captions.
Part two: Optional breakout sessions (12:15 pm – 2:00 pm AEST): These interactive sessions are designed to connect people across lived experience, research, and policy roles, and help each other put evidence into action. Each room will have a trained facilitator, accessible features, and a mix of lived experience, research, policy, and practice. Everyone will be supported to take part in a way that works for them.
Speakers and facilitators
Speakers and facilitators will include people with lived experience, researchers, systemic advocates, and representatives from government and regulators. Stay tuned for announcements.
Content note: A Safety and Wellbeing Officer will be available during and after the event for attendees and participants who may experience distress and need further support, and details of support services will be provided to all attendees.
About Evidence to Action: The NDRP’s Evidence to Action program curates inclusive events to bring together the disability community, Disability Representative Organisations, Disabled Persons Organisations, researchers, service providers and policy makers. The events explore evidence, identify research and evidence gaps, build connections and discuss barriers to applying evidence.
