    Event description

Nature can be a place of mindfulness and healing, and we're totally surrounded by it. Although sometimes, we may not always consider the opportunity to pause, reflect and reconnect with wildlife and nature.

Together, we'll grow an appreciation of the environment by learning about local birds, insects, trees & plants, and ecology (how nature interacts with itself). We'll also have a Smoking Ceremony (First Nations custom to cleanse and ward off bad spirits), explore mindfulness through a sketching activity, learn how to contribute to citizen science, and finish the day with traditional basket weaving.

Light refreshments (bush tucker) will be provided.

    ☀️Wear sunscreen / sun protection
👟Wear comfortable shoes suitable for walking
    💧Bring a water bottle
🧠 A curious mind ready to learn and have fun!

Open to all young people aged 12-25 years and their families.

    * Please note: Participants will be required to organise their own transport to and from the location. If transport will be an issue, please let us know at the end of the registration form and we will be able to discuss options.

This event is brought to you by a partnership between Canterbury-Bankstown Council, School of Life and Environment Sciences at the University of Sydney, and headspace Bankstown.
