Description

Got ideas for your greenspace?

Come and tell us what you think about Muirhouse through a relaxed, interactive creative workshop.

This session has a biodiversity focus and asks you to experience the greenspace from both a human and more-than-human point of view. You’ll learn about local species, create a simple species mask, then head outdoors to explore what the space might feel like for that creature, where it feels safe, difficult or welcoming, before returning to your own perspective and reflecting together on how the greenspace could better support both people and wildlife.

We also want to hear your stories of this place, what you love about it, what you avoid, what you notice, and what you would like to see change.

What makes you want to spend time here, and what makes you steer clear? What would you like to see, smell and hear in the future? What feels missing? And whose experiences or needs might not be heard often enough?

You don’t need any previous experience. Just bring your ideas, experiences and imagination

Accessibility

We are committed to ensuring that our events are accessible for everyone, regardless of their disability, race, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, religion, economic status or caring responsibility. Please let us know if you have access needs at studio@feeldworkfutures.co.uk

Our workshops will include both indoor and outdoor activities. There will be access to indoor spaces and facilities throughout the session, so you will not be expected to spend the whole workshop outside.

As some activities may take place outdoors, please dress for the October weather and bring warm and waterproof clothing if you have it.

Some of the outdoor areas may be wet or muddy, with uneven ground in places. If you have suitable footwear such as sturdy shoes, walking boots or wellies, you may find these helpful. However, please do not worry if you do not have specialist outdoor clothing or footwear — we want the workshops to be as accessible as possible.

If you have any access requirements, mobility considerations, or anything else that would help you take part comfortably, please let us know when booking or contact us in advance.

Children and young people

Children and young people are very welcome to take part, but anyone under 16 must attend with a responsible adult.

Please book a place for each child or young person attending, as well as the accompanying adult, so that we have an accurate idea of numbers.

About our project

We are running a series of creative workshops across North Lanarkshire in October, working with North Lanarkshire Council to understand what local communities need and want from the greenspaces in their area.

Our workshops are creative-led, feelings-led and open to everyone. We want to understand not just how people use greenspaces, but how these places feel, what makes people feel welcome or unwelcome, and what people would like them to become in the future.

There will be lots of different ways to get involved, including:

  • creative mapping

  • weaving workshops

  • biodiversity activities

  • conversations, stories and future ideas

The project forms part of North Lanarkshire Council’s Nearer to Nature project.
