Nearvana Unplugged
Event description
This is a full performance of Nirvana's Unplugged in New York Concert, performed by a 6 piece band,
a recreation to, as close (or near) as we can make it.
"Nearvana" was conceived by Erik Parker and Toby Johnson, for Culture Jam's "The Town" festival in December 2024, following the 90s theme of the festival. It was developed as a faithful recreation, because we love the music. Something we all grew up listening to. The notion of Nirvana evolving into something more, had Kurt lived, is an invigorating idea to ponder on. Delving into folk and Americana, exploring renditions, gives the impression they were ready for a huge evolution.
The performance we developed for The Town became so much more in the moment. We knew it could be special, but the energy from the audience made it almost too much to process. It was truly beautiful to all enjoy this together, with a shared appreciation so deep and reverential to the work and the artists that created it.
We'll have the full band line-up from The Town.
