Neel Kolhatkar loves two things — comedy and martial arts. What he admires most about martial arts is the belt system: a clear marker of skill earned through skill and experience. Neel believes comedy should be no different.

With social media flooded by stand-ups of every stripe, there’s no way to gauge a comedian’s experience and skill level — so why not introduce comedy belts? From ‘white belts’ telling dad jokes to ‘black belts’ tackling dark, taboo topics with nuance and precision.
