Negotiation 101

Learn some of the basics to improving your capacity for effective negotiation

Working effectively in the community sector requires developing effective negotiating skills. This course introduces you to some of the basic ideas of negotiation and how to use them with other workers and/or clients to improve outcomes. Negotiation 101 is a practical, engaging course designed specifically for people working in mission-driven organisations who want to improve their ability to ethically negotiate for better outcomes.

This course will introduce you to the concepts of Fisher and Ury described in Getting to Yes that help you:

  • Separate the people from the problem

  • Focus on interests, not positions

  • Invent options for mutual gain

  • Insist on using objective criteria

  • Know your BATNA (Best Alternative to a Negotiated Agreement)

Whether you’re in a leadership role, working on the frontlines, or supporting behind the scenes, this course offers tools and insights to help you improve in your ability to negotiate.

This workshop will be delivered by Peter Watson, from Impact Facilitation. Linda has over 15 years of experience leading and delivering learning experiences to community sector workers.

The cost of this workshop is $180 plus GST. Refunds are available up to a week prior to the event.
