Neighbourhood Story Slam: Storytelling Workshop pt. 2
Event description
Ready to take your story further?
In our first workshop, we explored the foundations of great storytelling — structure, heart, rhythm, and voice. You tapped into personal experiences, uncovered moments of meaning, and were introduced to the powerful Incident–Point–Benefit framework:
Incident: What happened. A real moment in time.
Point: hy it mattered. What shifted.
Benefit: What your audience gains by hearing it.
Now it’s time to take your story further.
In this second Neighbourhood Story Slam workshop, we’ll focus on refining and enriching your story — shaping the raw material into something more resonant, more intentional, and more you. Whether you're continuing a piece you started in the first session or joining for the first time, this workshop offers a calm and creative space to continue to craft your story.
We’ll explore:
How to refine your story’s structure without losing its heart
The power of language, imagery, and emotional pacing
How to find your story’s “point of context” — the deeper current beneath the words
Subtle tools to unleash the energy in your story, without performance pressure
Ways to present your story with clarity and calm confidence
This isn’t about performance or polish. It’s about presence, connection, and truth-telling — at your own pace, in good company.
Once again, you’ll be guided by Julian Noel — magnetic storyteller, regular Slam favourite, and founder of Shine. With decades of experience across drama, performance, and purpose-led communication, Julian helps turn stories into something both deeply personal and universally powerful.
Come curious, feel connected, leave inspired - welcome to the Neighbourhood!

We're stoked to be collaborating with Supreme Coffee on their Kōrero Mai campaign. Kōrero Mai means “talk to me” in te reo Māori and speaks to the power of connection. A coffee catch-up, a simple chat, or a good story, can mean more than you think to brighten someone's day. Proceeds from their Kōrero Mai blend are donated to the Mental Health Foundation.
