Nelson Tasman Local Ambassador Workshop

Event description

You're Invited to Become a Nelson Tasman Local Ambassador

Are you part of the tourism and hospitality industry and have had questions from your visitors that have left you stumped? Join us for the Nelson Tasman Ambassador Training – a fun and engaging workshop for those in visitor-facing roles, including business owners, seasoned professionals, hospitality and retail staff, transportation drivers, accommodation providers, hairdressers and more.

This free 2.5-hour workshop, a.k.a fun-shop, is the next step in your journey as a key influencer in Nelson Tasman, helping visitors explore more and care more about what our wonderful region has to offer.

Why get involved?

To empower people interacting with visitors in the Nelson Tasman region by deepening our collective understanding of our local area, fostering cultural awareness, and enhancing customer service. By working together, we can increase repeat visitation, word of mouth recommendations, and business referrals.

What is a Local Ambassador?

Most of us are already ambassadors for our region, e.g. when friends and family visit. Local ambassadors look after visitors on a daily basis as part of their job and often get asked questions about what other experiences they would recommend.

Nelson Tasman Local Ambassadors connect with people through the values of 'manaakitanga' (hospitality) and 'kaitiakitanga' (caring for the environment), encouraging our visitors to explore and enjoy more of our region.

What are the benefits?

Join a group of Nelson Tasman Local Ambassadors who know our region well and promote more things for visitors to see and do, boosting both enjoyment and business referrals.

- Connect and grow: Network with fellow tourism and hospitality professionals from around the region, building relationships and sharing knowledge.

- Learn and engage: Hear local stories and learn essential skills—like relevant Te Reo Māori phrases and tips for creating exceptional customer experiences.

- Prizes and special offers:  Win prizes and enjoy special offers from businesses within our network.

- Ongoing support and development:  Join our Local Ambassador community for continuous learning and support, especially useful for upskilling prior to peak seasons.
