NENA Annual General Meeting (AGM)
Event description
The New Economy Network Australia Co-operative Ltd (NENA) will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Tues 16th December, online via Zoom, at 6.30pm (AEDT / NSW, VIC, TAS time) 5.30pm AEST / QLD time) 3.30pm (AWST / WA time).
This meeting is an important opportunity for members to participate directly in the governance of our cooperative. The AGM enables members to reflect on our progress, shape our collective direction, and renew NENA’s leadership teams.
🌿 At the AGM, all attendees will have the opportunity to:
Hear about NENA’s work over the past 12–18 months;
Receive updates on operations, financial reports, and future plans;
📘 At the meeting, members will be asked to:
Speak to any items listed on the agenda; and
Resolve to accept the minutes of the last Annual General Meeting;
Resolve to accept the End-of-Year Report, including the Treasurer’s Report; andResolve to elect new members of the Board of Directors, the Strategic Directions Group (SDG), and the Participatory Budget Group (PBG).
Please note that there are no special resolutions to be proposed at this annual general meeting.
⚖️ Voting Procedure at the AGM
Each member of NENA is entitled to one vote, which may be exercised either:
In person (online) during the meeting; or
By proxy, by appointing another member to vote on your behalf.
If you are unable to attend, please email nena@neweconomy.org.au to receive a proxy form and submit the Proxy Form 24 hours before the meeting.
🗳️ Call for Nominations
Nominations are now open to members for the following governance groups:
Board of Directors: Provides governance oversight, ensures compliance with the Co-operatives National Law, and guides NENA’s organisational direction.
Strategic Directions Group (SDG): Leads collaborative strategy development, including the annual NENA Strategy and Civil Society Strategy.
Participatory Budget Group (PBG): Oversees participatory budgeting and financial transparency, helping ensure democratic allocation of NENA’s resources.
To nominate, you must be an active NENA member (individual or organisational representative) and over 18 years of age. Please ensure your membership is current before submitting your nomination.
How to Nominate:
Complete the appropriate Nomination Form (linked below) – you’ll be asked to include your contact details, relevant experience, and a short statement (150–200 words) outlining your interest in the position.
Have your nomination endorsed by two current NENA members (signatures or email confirmations).
Submit your completed form to nena@neweconomy.org.au no later than Tuesday December 2nd.

If the number of nominations received exceeds the number of available positions, a ballot will be conducted during the AGM in accordance with the Constitution.
We strongly encourage nominations from across NENA’s diverse membership — individuals, cooperatives, First Nations representatives, social enterprises, academics, and community organisers — to ensure our governance reflects the breadth of the new economy movement.
