New year, new things to obsess over.

Three talks. One spot. Zero chill. All nerd.

Born in New York and now hosted in more than 100 cities around the world, Nerd Nite is a monthly event where people share the things they're unapologetically obsessed with. No lectures. No panels. Just three fascinating humans, 20-minute talks, and a room full of curious strangers enjoying a drink together.

Whether you're into science, history, art, psychology, niche hobbies, or delightfully obscure rabbit holes, Nerd Nite is for anyone who loves learning something unexpected.

Date: Wednesday, 20 January
Venue: 462 Serangoon Rd, #02-00, Singapore 218141
Doors: 7.00 PM
Show: 7.30 PM sharp

Ben Roberts

Why You Should Care About Cassettes

Before Spotify playlists and wireless earbuds, there was the humble cassette tape. But this little piece of technology did a lot more than play music.

Ben explores how portable cassettes changed the way we listen to music, shaped pop culture, and made music more personal. Expect stories, nostalgia, and a chance to get up close with pieces from his own collection.

Yue Xiu

Coffee: How to Become Insufferable in 20 Minutes

Why does one coffee taste like jasmine and blueberries while another tastes like chocolate and nuts? And why does your home espresso sometimes taste like battery acid?

Yue Xiu takes us through the unnecessarily fascinating world of coffee, from processing methods and flavour profiles to espresso extraction and the taxonomy of coffee drinks. Expect yourself to be sniffing coffee beans.

Shilpa

How to Learn Anything (Even in the Age of AI)

In a world where AI can remember, summarise and generate almost anything, are we getting better at learning, or just better at outsourcing our thinking?

Shilpa explores the neuroscience of learning, memory and recall, sharing practical techniques to help us learn faster and retain more. Drawing from her journey across biomedical science, technology, language learning and emerging fields, she'll unpack how to stay curious and keep learning in an increasingly AI-driven world.

Come nerd out with us.

Bring your curiosity, grab a drink, and kick off the night with a quiz for a chance to win a mystery prize.

Then settle in for three talks that'll leave you saying, "Huh... I never knew that."

You don't need to be an expert. Just come curious.

Be there. Be square.
