For every season of THE BACHELOR aired since Instagram's inception, there has been a girl accused of going on the show simply for the social media following. But is everyone really on there for the followers and not for love as so many people claim? A social media influencer in her own right, Delaney Sears analyzes the 22-year history of THE BACHELOR alongside the rise of social media - and the subsequent "fame" of its contestants - and debunks the most popular complaint about the nation's most popular dating show.

She has a whole Master's Degree in Entertainment Industry Management, but is best known for her viral TikToks that landed her on Dropout.tv's hit show "GameChanger" and many other viral videos over the past 4 years. Most importantly, she is a self-proclaimed academic on all things "The Bachelor", Kermit the Frog, and Barbra Streisand. She also makes pie.

PRESENTATION #2: Batti Batti: Uncovering Sex Work in Opera

By Bea Goodwin

Summary: You hear opera in bite sized bits everywhere— the Doritos commercial, a TikTok trend, on hold with Sally Mae. You hum along, you feel sophisticated. Not many people realize the translations of these famous arias and their prevalences of prostitution, kink & revelrous debauchery. Opera librettist / stage director Bea Goodwin will shatter your visions of opera divas donning viking helmets and uncover the world of sex and power structures within popular operatic narratives. This talk will expose the high societies of the Parisian demimonde, geishas of the Edo Period and courtesans of Italy throughout the 19th century operatic cannon. Libiamo!

Librettist and Stage Director Bea Goodwin fashions feminist adaptations, ghost stories, and historical fictions for a new era of opera. Her work has been hailed as "relentlessly clever" and "masterfully spellbinding," with premieres in traditional theatrical spaces such as BAM, La Mama Experimental Theatre, National Sawdust, as well as site specific immersive experiences in Chicago's International Museum of Surgical Science and NYC's The Mark Hotel penthouse suite.
