BACK AT BAYBORO BREWING!

We all know that learning is more fun when you’re drinking with friends. Nerd Nite operates in over a hundred cities around the globe including our city - St. Pete! This lecture event strives for an inebriated, salacious, yet deeply academic vibe. Several presenters totally geek out for 20 minutes each while guests drink and socialize. It’s like Ted Talk– with beer! Drink, learn, connect, and talk about fun, interesting stuff!

January Nerd Nite St. Pete will be at Bayboro Brewing. Doors open at 6:30pm. Presentations begin promptly at 7pm.

Tickets are $6.91 in advance.  All tickets will be sold online.  And we always sell out!

Show your ticket on your phone or just give us your name and we will check you in.

This month, Nerd Nite St. Pete is teaming up with the St. Petersburg Conference on World Affairs (SPCWA) to bring a global perspective to our presentations. For over a decade, SPCWA has hosted distinguished diplomats, military leaders, media professionals, and academic experts to discuss critical international issues at its annual February conference. This year’s event will take place in person at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg Student Center and will also be live-streamed worldwide from February 11–13. Learn more on the SPCWA website: https://worldaffairsconference...

Check out this month's speakers:

Jessica Meszaros: Covering Climate In A Sinking State

Florida is at the heart of the nation's climate crisis. A public radio journalist shares her experience reporting on hurricanes, flooding, heat, and invasive species... and gathering the voices of people who want to ignore it or save it.

Jessica Meszaros is a born and raised Floridian, originally from Miami who's been in Florida public media for over a decade, covering environmental issues. She loves camping in Florida springs, kayaking and animals. Jessica's curious and loving sphynx cat Nacho just turned 1 year old.

Willi Rudowsky: Free Events: Someone Pays If Not You

Explore the hidden economics behind ""free"" events, from generous sponsors to clever cost-cutting. This witty, thought-provoking talk uncovers who foots the bill and why it matters more than you think. Learn how understanding these dynamics can help you spot value and make smart donations to keep those ""free"" events alive for another year or more.."

Willi Rudowsky is a professional multitasker with three master’s degrees,, none of which she ever really used for work. As the current president of St. Petersburg in the World, Inc., she spends her days organizing global affairs conferences and dreaming of trading her husband for a Sydney zip code (he’s fine with it). When not cooking, organizing events or sitting on boards, she’s likely reminiscing about her teenage dream of Constantinople, which she finally checked off 36 years later.

Lynne Platt: Do U Know About Nato

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s been around since 1949, but much has changed in 75 years. Updates and information presented in the form of a quiz.

Lynne Platt is a St. Pete resident, retired Foreign Service Officer and Standard poodle owner. Along with Willi Rudowsky, she recently got the St. Petersburg in the World non-profit accepted into the World Affairs Councils of America. Lynne knew she was a nerd when her 6th grade boyfriend told her that “girls who try to be walking encyclopedias should remember: reference books are never taken out.
