    Event description

The River Conservation Society, York is delighted to host Simon Cherriman with The Re-Cyc-Ology Project's nestbox building workshop.

Simon is an award winning environmental scientist, writer, educator and wildlife filmmaker. In this workshop he will give you and your family the confidence and skills to make and install nestboxes for the benefit of native wildlife.

Participants will be able to help install the nestboxes, constructed during the workshop, along the Avon River near the workshop site.

Simon: " A great diversity of Australian wildlife relies on hollow cavities in native trees to meet their nesting or roosting requirements. Such hollows take hundreds of years to form naturally, but sadly, due to massive land clearing since European settlement in Australia, countless numbers have been lost. This plight has severely impacted native wildlife" This workshop will provide an opportunity for participants to help the River Conservation Society improve the river environment and provide homes for local fauna
