Nesting box building workshop: Leigh District Landcare Group
Event description
🐦 Nesting Box Workshop with Leigh District Landcare Group 🛠️
Did you know that hollow-bearing trees are usually over 100 years old? Larger hollows — essential for native birds, mammals, and bats — only form in much older trees. As these vital habitats disappear, nesting boxes can help fill the gap and support local wildlife.
Join us for a hands-on workshop where you’ll:
🛠️ Build your own nesting box to install on your property
🌿 Learn about the importance of natural hollows and how artificial hollows support biodiversity
🦇 Discover the crucial role of bats in our environment, with a special talk by resident bat expert
What to bring:
🔧 A drill or phillips head screwdriver (if you have one)
☕ Morning tea provided
Everyone is welcome — non-members are encouraged to attend and consider joining our Landcare community.
