Event description

The City of Whittlesea Welcome Expo and Professional Migrant Women, presents:

Networking: How to find the hidden job market in Australia

Often our friends, family and colleagues can help us access jobs that never get advertised. But when you are a migrant you lose all your natural connections and the ability to get jobs that way.

In fact, one of the biggest obstacles for professional migrants is to access a professional network and leverage the benefits of being part of one, like having access to the hidden job market.

The hidden job market includes positions that are not publicly advertised in traditional print or online sources and are available only via networking and word-of-mouth.

In this workshop you will learn:

  • What is networking? And what is not?
  • Why networking is a critical skill for migrants?
  • How to network during and after COVID time?
  • Dos and Don'ts of Networking

Fabiola Campbell

She helps professional migrant women get professional jobs in Australia!

She is the founder and principal mentor at Professional Migrant Women, an organisation created with the aim to reduce the gap between migration and professional employment for women in Australia.

She is passionate about the role of women in our society and their humanistic leadership qualities. She believes in creating significant connections that builds strength in our differences, values our uniqueness and includes our rich and culturally diverse community.

As a professional migrant herself, she experienced the struggle of not being able to get the jobs that she was qualified to do. Her lack of extended personal support, professional networks and knowledge about the recruitment process in Australia, made it very difficult for for her to break into the job market.

As a passionate networker, she developed those skills and networks over the years, and she is now able to assist others to develop the skills and knowledge that they need to approach the Australia job market with confidence.

She is enthusiastic, creative, resourceful and resilient. She sees opportunities where others see challenges and enjoys the process of creating new possibilities. She has learnt to be the hero of her own story by identifying, embracing and celebrating her unique gifts and sharing them with the world.
