Neuk Presents: Making Art, Making Change: Approaches to sustainability in neurodivergent artistic practice (Panel Discussion)

Join neurodivergent artists Hannah Burdess, Johanna Koen and Sarah Calmus for a discussion about sustainability in creative practice.

We will discuss topics like materials, reuse, sourcing, environmental impact and the barriers artists may face when trying to work more sustainably.

Hannah Burdess is a multidisciplinary artist and Creative Director building immersive worlds on canvas and in person, from symbolism, Surrealism, and decolonial practice. Found and repurposed items as mixed media, bold neons, metallics, and layered meaning - Hannah's work demands attention and holds space for everyone.

Johanna Koen is a community gardener, wildcrafter and creative mycologist working in community engagement. She aims to weave a radical re-imagining of our relationships with nature and one another into all her work.

Sarah Calmus is an interdisciplinary artist, programmer, music maker and creator of large-scale immersive installations and provocations, based in Scotland, working across a multitude of mediums such as light, sound, and print. Accessible, multisensory, sustainably produced experiences are central within Calmus’s practice, where works often draw focus on environmental concerns that build equity for participators and critique and explore ecosystems of varying scales.
