Neurodivergent Speed Friending
Event description
Neurodivergent Speed Friending Event
🌈Join us for a fun evening of meeting new people and building connections! This event aims to provide opportunities to extend your social circle in a supportive and inclusive environment. This event is a safe space for people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, cultures, bodies, and abilities.
Ages: 18 to 35 years old
Cost: $35 pp which includes event entry and grazing table. NDIS participants may use their plan to pay for this event. Speak to your support coordinator about claiming this.
📅Event Schedule:
- 6:00 PM: Arrival and check-in
We recommend arriving at 6pm to grab a drink, pick up your name tag, settle in, and enjoy some treats from our grazing table.
- 6:30 PM: Speed Friending begins!
You'll have two hours to chat with new people, with each conversation lasting 6 minutes. Expect to meet between 10-15 new people. There will also be some unstructured time to mingle and connect with more people if you'd like!
Midway through the event, we will have 20-minute break to relax, grab a drink, a snack or do whatever you need. At any point during the night, if you are feeling overwhelmed or uncomfortable, you are welcome to take a break outside or downstairs (away from the crowd).
🤝How it works:
- Use the provided sheet to mark down anyone you’d like to be friends with. If there’s a mutual interest, we’ll contact you the next day.
- We’ll have conversation cards, icebreaker games, and fidgets available to help spark great conversations and break the ice.
✨After Speed Friending:
- Feel free to stick around, enjoy more snacks, and continue mingling.
- Use this time to chat with anyone you missed or deepen connections with those you’ve met.
- Of course, if you’re ready to head out, there’s no obligation to stay.
📍About The Venue:
- Onsite parking, accessible and gender-neutral toilets, wheelchair access via lift.
- Separate function room away from the general public with a private entrance and private bar.
- Low light, calming space
- Although this space is separate from the main venue, due to being an old factory building there may be some sound reverberation. We will try our best to limit this but please feel welcome to bring any devices or aids to make you feel more comfortable.
