The Centre for Digital Cultures and Societies invites you to join us to celebrate the release of Dr Andrew Dougall’s new book, Mediatizing the Nation, Ordering the World: Struggles for Redemption in Britain and the United States (Oxford University Press). Andrew is an International Relations researcher and postdoctoral fellow at DCS, and previously completed his PhD in the School of Political Science and International Studies at UQ in 2022. Mediatizing the Nation, Ordering the World presents a new account of media’s role in nationalist challenges to global order, spanning the telegraph’s role in the 19th-century British imperial world, to the internet’s place in the construction of Donald Trump’s 21st-century American New Right. Read more about the book here.
The event will feature a short overview from the author, followed by responses from A/Prof Andrew Phillips (POLSIS) and Dr Luke Munn (DCS), and time for audience questions.
