New Business Requirements - Positive Duty Sex Discrimination Act 1984 (Cth)
Event description
This workshop is first in a series of online briefings providing information to employers on the new requirements positive duty requirements for business.
Under the Sex Discrimination Act, organisations and businesses have a legal duty to take 'reasonable and proportionate measures' to eliminate relevant unlawful conduct, as far as possible. Simply responding to individual reports as they arise is not enough.
Organisations and businesses can now be held accountable even if no one makes an individual complaint under the Sex Discrimination Act.
Guiding Principles have been developed to help inform decisions an organisation or business makes about what it needs to do based on its particular circumstances. In addition to the Guiding Principles, seven standards have been developed which outline what the Commission expects organisations and businesses to do to satisfy the positive duty under the Sex Discrimination Act.
The workshop series will delve into the Guiding Principles and seven standards to assist businesses to meet their positive duty obligations.
The TCCI Workplace Relations service can work with businesses individually to review, develop and/or implement workplace policies, training and other initiatives based on the business size and industry.
