The expanding influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology has wide-reaching implications human creativity and innovation. This talk will cover the essentials of Intellectual Property (IP), and will touch on how AI is impacting the IP legal framework. We will consider whether AI can be considered an inventor, ownership rights, issues of infringement, and ethics. As AI becomes more prominent in creative processes, attendees will gain insights on whether AI-assisted creations can be owned by humans and the potential infringement risks.
About the speaker:
Donghwan Lee is a visiting scholar from South Korea who has a wealth of experience in the areas of intellectual property (IP), patent law, and patent examination policy. He is currently a Senior Deputy Director at the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) and previously served as a patent examiner. While at KPU, Donghwan is exploring the impact of emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence and biotechnology, on the global intellectual property landscape.
