NEW FACULTY ORIENTATION (in-person)
This one-day orientation is intended for faculty new to Capilano University.Â
Participants will work with members of the Centre for Teaching Excellence to learn more about the student body unique to CapU and its campuses, and the instructional strategies that serve their needs. Participants will also engage in sessions from the Library, Human Resources, and the Capilano Faculty Association.
By the end of this orientation, you will be able to:
- identify key partners to your career at CapU;
- identify what makes CapU students unique;
- recognize the importance of CapU's commitment to reconciliation and Indigenization;
- select active learning and learner-centered strategies to use in your classroom;
- align course content to in-class evaluation strategies;
- set-up your course(s) on eLearn (CapU's Learning Management System) site;
- identify existing course resources and research services with area Librarians;
- identify the processes and components of teaching evaluations. Â
