New Voices 2024
Event description
New Voices is MUSE's annual program that provides a platform for aspiring young writers to create, workshop, and showcase their own original pieces of musical theatre. This includes everything from works in progress to fully-fledged shows! 🎶📝

This year we have two works on display:
'A Stage Adaptation of the Tale of Peter Rabbit' by Harry O'Brien - 40 minutes
The work is a stage adaptation of Beatrix Potter's 1910 picture book, The Tale of Peter Rabbit. It retells the story live on stage through music and theatre, invoking the English countryside & whimsical worlds kids' stories go to. The music draws upon Folk music, as well as Jazz, musical theatre and a mixed, chamber-style ensemble, helping to personify the wide selection of characters.
Although aimed primarily to younger audiences (ages ~4+), the enjoyment is there for every age.
'The Futility of Falling' by Jasmine Good - 1 hr 20 minutes
‘The Futility of Falling’ is a musical which explores the feeling of loving someone who can’t love themselves and the juxtaposition between the beauty of love and the shattering pain which can be born from one sided love. This musical explores themes of Femininity, Queerness and Mental Struggles to create a new and eye-opening perspective to the word ‘love’.
This musical is recommended for those aged 14 and over as it explores adult themes.
