Description

Thursday 31 December 2026, 6:00pm until midnight (New Year's Day, 1 January 2027)

Where: Sakya Temple of Peace, 27 Jenke Circuit, Kambah ACT

A very special all-night New Year's Eve puja of 1000-Armed Avalokiteshvara has been organised to help celebrate New Year's Eve in a meaningful way.

The evening will begin with the empowerment of 1000-Armed Avalokiteshvara, followed by an all-night puja, reciting as many Six-Syllable Mantras and Long Dharani Mantras as we can. Lama Choedak Rinpoche will bestow the 1000-Armed Avalokiteshvara empowerment according to the Gelongma Palmo tradition.

This is dedicated to healing and world peace after what was a dreadful year of war, natural disasters and conflicts our world has suffered. The 1000-Armed Avalokiteshvara Puja is a recommended practice for all to bid farewell to a hard year and pray for a positive new year.

A late-night supper and chai tea will be provided for all registered participants. All are welcome.

Entry is by donation.

About Lama Choedak Rinpoche

Born in Tibet, Lama Choedak Rinpoche trained within the Sakya lineage, where he engaged in a traditional three-and-a-half-year solitary retreat sponsored by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. With more than four decades of teaching experience, Rinpoche offers guidance that is firmly grounded in authentic lineage, yet expressed with clarity and warmth for contemporary practitioners.
