The Watch Or The Time is a collaboration of independent professionals under the umbrella of Broken Yellow, an Australian-based production company focused on narrative-driven documentary and television work.
Director Travis Beard is a multi-disciplinary artist whose work spans music, film, photography, and festivals. He lived and worked in Afghanistan for more than seven years, which shaped his vision for the film. His debut feature documentary, ROCKABUL, premiered at the 2018 Rotterdam International Film Festival.
Travis is joined by producer and co-writer Catherine James, who lived in Kabul for seven years as a foreign correspondent. They drew on their experiences of the West’s nation-building efforts for the film, while working closely with those whose lives span the US-led war from 2001 to 2021.
Executive producer Navid Bahadori - an award-winning Iranian-Australian filmmaker - brought the backing of the Broken Yellow crew, including creative director Mario Lendvai's design and graphics work, film editors Rishi Shukla and Jonathan Martin, and producer Grace Pestonji.
Behind this core team are many unnamed researchers, advisors, and supporters whose contributions were critical to the film’s development. Their collective effort reflects a shared commitment to telling this story with care, cultural context, and authenticity.
