Phylsis HoyHas been a member of the Walcha Garden club for over 40 years and is a life member.  Her experience in floral art and judging cut flowers is widely recognized.

Phyllis has always been interested in flowers from an early age growing up on the family farm in Walcha.

The late Olga Lisle, who had an amazing talent at decorative floral art inspired her and other young ladies to submit entries at the local show. In later years Robyn Lyon, who has a more modern and artistic style with an eye for detail in arrangements, ignited Phyllis’ imagination about what can be done with flowers. She brought ideas about colours and what could be done with props to enhance any floral arrangement.  Both Olga and Robyn laid the foundation for Phyllis’ future floral endeavours and it was their dedication, inspiration and support for local women that has cemented the reputation of Floral Art at Walcha Show as consistently producing arrangements of high quality.

After attending a flower judging school 15 years ago in Tamworth, Phyllis became a Cut Flower Judge for the New England area.  The guidelines for cut flower judging, as designated by the Royal Horticultural Society, include many technicalities that need to be considered in making decisions about awards.

Phyllis is keen to ignite your creativity in floral presentation so you too can experience the joy in bringing home awards at the shows you enter.
