Description

Newkind Social Change Conference is an annual festival-style conference experience that brings people from all walks of life together to celebrate our Unity in Diversity, build bridges of understanding and to inspire collective action for positive social change.

Join us in Redbank Victoria on the site of the Newkind community farm for 5 days of inspiring talks, discussion panels, workshops, music, arts and entertainment in a family-friendly environment, with lovingly prepared meals and camping under the stars.

Every year, we curate opportunities to learn, grow, challenge, question and inspire so we can all become more active protagonists in the life of our local and global community. From a multicultural arts program, to a fully functioning repair cafe, professional development workshops and lectures, to practical workshops on health, movement, environment, food and arts.

Launched in 2016, the Newkind name quickly became known for its pioneering spirit and drive to contribute to social change and the betterment of the world. From leading event sustainability practice, to implementing consent training well ahead of the curve, creating a drug and alcohol free family space, providing meals included in registration cost, no charge First Nations tickets and of course the event programming; Newkind has always been a leader in ethical, equitable and environmentally responsible event design.

The purpose of Newkind Social Change Conference is to bring people together to discuss the interconnectedness of our planet’s social, environmental and economic issues, and build awareness and capacity for action.

Through a carefully curated experience that considers not only the programming but also the meals and decor, the sustainability principles, child protection and accessibility, equity and inclusion and the care-free yet very intentional energy, Newkind seeks to inspire holistic solutions to complex challenges by bringing together diverse perspectives and fostering collaboration, connection and cross-pollination.

Camping and Accommodation
You can bring your camping gear, tents or campervans, or you can rent a tent through us, and you can leave all your cooking gear at home. Our head chef Arianne and her team will be cooking up 3 delicious plant-based meals each day, with endless tea, coffee and fruit available. Special dietary requirements will be accommodated for as best as we possible can. There are other accommodation options if you would rather not camp, just search for options in Redbank (2 mins) Moonambel (5 mins), Avoca (15 mins) or Maryborough (30 mins).

Travel to the Site
You can drive your car, or car pool to the site in Redbank, Victoria, or if you are flying into Melbourne you can book a ticket on the shuttle service from Melbourne airport. We will ask for your travel arrangements after you've booked your ticket and schedule you on the most appropriate shuttle to the site. If you would like to catch a train the closest stop to us would be Maryborough, and we will have a pick-up service available from Maryborough as well.

Family-Friendly Vibes

As a family friendly event we have a zero alcohol policy for the event, and of course a no drugs policy as well. This is a firm policy with no wiggle room as we would prefer to keep the space we are creating sober and as safe as possible. There will be a kids space available and some children's programming provided for parents who wish to bring young ones, and the entertainment in the evenings will be a range of multicultural performances, music, dance and poetry. Pets are welcome, but dogs will need to be well trained and friendly with other dogs, and be on a lead when walking the grounds.
