Description
This interactive workshop will will best prepare teachers for what's new in the new Stage 6 Physics syllabus.
In this workshop, teachers will unpack the new Year 11 and Year 12 syllabus to:
learn the new course structure requirements
learn the new assessment and reporting requirements
learn the new practical depth studies requirements
identify similar content with the outgoing syllabus
learn the new content
learn the new experiments
identify Year 11 content important for Year 12
In particular, we will unpack the physics behind the new content.
All teachers will walk away with a variety of resources to assist their students in the classroom.

Workshop Delivered by Simon Crook
Dr Simon Crook is a very experienced HSC Physics teacher and provider of Physics professional learning, with a PhD in Physics Educations Research (USyd) and a BSc (Hons) in Physics (Manchester). As Director of CrookED Science, Simon has been working with many high schools and school systems to best prepare their teachers and students for HSC Physics, including his regular partnership schools. In addition, Simon has been in regular dialogue with STANSW, NESA and The University of Sydney, as well as having articles published in The Conversation, Australian Physics and AARE, regarding the new and outgoing Stage 6 Physics syllabuses. Previously, he was a HSC Physics Marker for several years and also worked on HSC Physics Advice Line. Simon is Senior Consultant and co-author of the new Cambridge Stage 6 Physics textbooks. As such, Simon is in the unique position of currently teaching to a wide variety of students while delivering many professional learning and student workshops around the HSC Physics syllabus and exams.
