Next Gen 16's Program

The Next Gen Program (NGP) is aimed at finding the next generation of athletes that could one day represent Queensland. The program will also expose athletes to a high performance environment, and provide a taste of what to expect if they progress along the High Performance pathway in the future. It will provide a development opportunity with on-court and off-court sessions that will help improve athletes holistically.

The Next Gen 16's Pass is eligible for any U16 athlete that has competed in U16 BQJBC representative competitions in 2026. The pass includes access to attend as many of the camps across Queensland as you like, a Next Gen 16's T shirt, multiple educational workshops a parent presentation and off court resources. BQ also uses Next Gen 16's as one part of talent ID for the State Performance Program (SPP).

Camp Check in: Athletes will be checked in by BQ staff and will receive their Next Gen T shirt at check in.

Breaks: There will not be supervision for athletes during the breaks in sessions. There will be staff in the building but no specific people supervising the athletes during the break.

What to Bring to Camps:

  • Association reversible singlet

  • Basketball

  • Water bottle

  • Snacks or any food/personal items needed for the day

Online Educational Workshops

Please note that with a Next Gen Pass parents and athletes will get access to four online educational workshops covering topics including strength and conditioning, sports psychology, nutrition and physio.

Next Gen T Shirt

All athletes will receive a Next Gen 16's T Shirt as part of the program.

Parent Presentation

All parents will receive access to the Next Gen Parent Presentation. This presentation will cover information about the Next Gen Program, other Basketball Queensland programs and more.

Off Court Resources

Everyone that purchases a pass will receive off court resources that will assist athletes in their all round development.
