Night Walk through Manyana Special Conservation Reserve
Event description
Meet us at the tennis courts, with views over the Manyana Special Conservation Reserve (MSCR).
Mayana is a biodiversity hotspot. The MSCR gained worldwide media attention when the forest acted like a species ark during the 2019-2020 bushfires, providing food and shelter to animals that survived, including threatened and vulnerable species including the Grey-headed Flying Fox, Glossy-black Cockatoo, Gang-gang Cockatoo, critically endangered Littoral Rainforest and Scrub Turpentine.
The MSCR then became a symbol of survival and hope for many people and the subject of a battle between property developer and nature lovers.
We'll provide a brief campaign update before guiding a walk by night in a nearby public forest so you can get up close and personal with some of our local, native, nocturnal non-human family. Experience what it is to breathe out with the trees as night falls and feel the stars fall in around you. Discover why were so passionate about our cause.
Please wear solid footwear, insect protection, and bring something warm. If you have binoculars, do bring them. We'll supply red cellophane for your torch.
Your donation allows us to continue to fight the cancer of Zombie DA's up and down the NSW coast, like the one that threatens the MSCR - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b95RaaLaY8w
