NLNL Hurstbridge - Family Disco

The NLNL Hurstbridge school holiday family disco is back!

At our family discos we run an earlier session, add party lights, invite children and now also provide the opportunity to perform (optional for those who have some budding singers or choreographers in their home). More details as to how the session will run below.

Ticket Details:

This is not an event for adults to attend on their own. Adults accompanied by a child, tween or teen aged minor are welcome. If you don't have anyone to bring along, please join us at one of our regular sessions during term time for the authentic NLNL experience!

Please purchase entry for all attendees (including adults) aged four years and older. Younger children are welcome to attend free of charge. Tip: Sound levels are kept to a safe level, however you may wish to bring hearing protection for sensitive ears and those who may feel overwhelmed.

You are asked to indicate the age of attendees, so that we can create an appropriate experience when making the playlist.

Tickets are fully refundable up to 24 hours before the session. If you need to cancel in the last 24 hours, payment is non-refundable, but is transferrable to a regular session in term time. (Regular full priced sessions are $10 per session, so may require additional payment). If you become unable to attend on the day, please send an email to nlnlhurstbridge@gmail.com before the session, to ensure that you will be able to use the value of your tickets in the following term.

Please note, these sessions are intended for both adults and children to enjoy an hour of dance joy together! No spectators please... dancers only! 

You are required to fully supervise your children at all times.

Please enter via the back door off the carpark. (This door will be supervised and may be resting shut, so just give it a push). 

THE SESSION:

This event may be tweaked on the night to best suit those attending.

It's a party vibe, there are generally lots of little kids but all ages are welcome. Enjoy the atmosphere and a silly dance with your gang, whatever your ages are! 

TIP: Groups with older teens, may feel more comfortable inviting their own family and friends along so that they can maintain their desired dance vibe the whole time! 

All ages are welcome, and the playlist will consist of popular songs, spanning a variety of decades that children, tweens, teens and adults can enjoy. 

Scarves and ribbons will be available for anyone to add a swirly element to their dancing.

A microphone will be available for children to singalong should the mood take them!

Most of the time will be free, unstructured boogie time with your loved ones. 


6 - 6.15pm This time will be geared towards providing music for the younger dancers, and will possibly include a dance game.

6.15 - 6.45pm This time will be for general dancing and may include the nutbush and children performing their own routines on stage*

6.45 - 7.00 pm This time will be geared towards providing music for the tweens and teenagers (highly likely to include Taylor Swift) 

WOULD YOU PREFER SOMETHING CLOSER TO THE AUTHENTIC NLNL EXPERIENCE? If you have older children and would like to dance in the dark with them (with a hint of light so that you can interact). Please send me an email and if there is enough interest I will consider booking the hall for an extra hour, and running a separate session. This hour would be dedicated to dancing in the (nearly completely) dark hall and would feature a playlist of attendees requests.

Please note that these events provide lots of sensory stimulation. (Moving party lights circle over the entire space and ceiling). If you need to leave within the first 15 minutes because it's not working for your child, please approach me before leaving and I will make sure your ticket purchases can be honoured at a regular dark session in the following term. You may like to consider ear muffs for sensitive children.

*PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITY

Do you know a child who loves to choreograph their own dances and perform them? Would they like a bigger audience? If your child would like to dance on the stage during our family disco, please contact me by Friday the 5th of July, to ensure I can include their song choice in the playlist. Then when it is played they can take to the stage (while attendees continue to dance themselves). TIP: Use the first week of the holidays to rehearse a routine with siblings or friends! 

This must be pre-arranged, so please email me at nlnlhurstbridge@gmail.com to advise of your interest and I will book them in! This is a fun relaxed opportunity, no skill required... just like a lounge room performance only with a bigger reach! :)

PHOTOGRAPHY:

You are welcome to photograph your own children enjoying themselves, please do not share anything online if you have caught others in your photos or videos. Please only film children performing onstage if they are your own.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY:

Children are to remain under adult supervision at all times. Please try to limit them running around the hall for the safety of all dancers. Children are not permitted in the foyer without adult supervision and only to access the toilet, kitchen or to take a quiet break from the hall. If leaving early via the foyer, please use the green emergency exit button in the foyer and ensure the doors are shut and locked before walking away, to ensure no other children exit with you. You may leave via the car park door, please ensure it is snibbed securely. Children are not permitted on the stage at all (unless performing with permission). Please do not allow your children to access or jump from the stage.
