Event description

Artist in Residence at the InterContinental Miami
Mondays 5PM - 7PM (EST)

Studio|Live and Noche de Arte serves as “an antidote to the stereotype that artists are isolated figures, eternally tucked away like hermits in the privacy of their studios.” In the early 20th century, artists of the Nouveaux Réalisme movement introduced the idea of making work in the public eye, making the process a performance in its own right. (The Art Story)

Noche de Arte is presented in partnership with Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau and the InterContinental Miami Hotel, with support from the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs.

CELEBRATING OUR ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY AND INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S MONTH IN MARCH

ABOUT THE ARTIST

South Florida based visual artist Sara Celinda Schesser Bartra considers herself a citizen of the world. Sara grew up and lived as an adult in many different countries in South America and Europe. Sara is a self-taught artist who comes from a family of numerous professions, among them many established artists from whom she drew inspiration since childhood.

Dr. Schesser Bartra holds a PhD in Molecular Biology and Microbiology and often incorporates science and the microbial world in her creations. She believes that microbes are beautiful and that it is important to forge a deeper public understanding and awareness of science. She wants to do it through the arts. Her work is in private collections around the world. Sara is currently an artist in residence at Art Serve and previously at Zero Empty Spaces in Fort Lauderdale and she is also a member of Embajadores del arte where she participates regularly in juried exhibits.

Sara’s work represents a variety of techniques, mediums and themes. She particularly enjoys mix media because she can use all her imagination and creativity utilizing materials that sometimes she buys but most times she finds and collects from the most unlikely sources. The combination of these techniques and materials produces interesting and compelling pieces of art. Sara’s inspiration comes from all forms and colors in her surroundings and also from experiences acquired in her work or travels. Her artistic expression has gone through many phases over last period of time resulting in art with a highly personal approach and perspective.

Friendship and collaborations are part of Sara’s daily life. Accordingly, she leads an art group of Swedish Women living in South Florida.
