Nonviolent Communication (NVC) 2-day training
Event description
In this dynamic training, we will use real life examples to explore how we can:
Increase our capacity to engage effectively with others even in challenging situations + long-term dynamics
Cut the exhausting guesswork by attending to what will really make a difference
Transform patterns of separation, scarcity and powerlessness into TOGETHERNESS, CHOICE + FLOW
Stay open, curious and effective when tension arises
Be in the world with nothing to hide
Dare to dream and be VISION driven - the most powerful quality of all nonviolent people-led living and change
Co-create practices that support us to celebrate, mourn and learn from everything that happens as a way to maintain healthy digestion of all that happens in our lives
Create the support we need to sustain ourselves while attending to what truly matters
Contribute to others well-being while simultaneously attending to ours
Maximise readiness to respond to all of life - no matter how it shows up
Become a valuable resource for our important relationships - by choice
'It's invaluable in enriching relationship.' - Janine Brissett
'This workshop has left a deep impression on me and has inspired a lot of change in my communication' - Caitlin Wood 2024
'For the last 2 days I have been really attuned to my needs, and the difference is not subtle. Stressful times like getting the kids to bed, are calm and easily negotiated. While I know the problems will not disappear, I am hopeful that this is the start of a new journey for me.' - anon
'Get very clear about the kind of world we would like and then start living that way' - Marshall Rosenberg, founder of NVC
'NVC is interested in learning that is motivated by reverence for life, by a desire to learn skills, to contribute better to our own well-being and the well-being of others.' - Marshall Rosenberg, founder of NVC

More about The Elder Tree:
The Elder Tree is a national grassroots not-for profit organisation. Our goal is to empower people through grassroots herbal education, and accessible holistic health care. We create environments where healing and learning go hand -in hand. We bring people into closer connection to themselves, each other and the Earth.
We are building and networking the Australian herbal medicine community. We bring together practitioners, teachers, students, medicine growers, medicine makers, community herbalists, folk herbalists and home herbalists to work together and support one another. We play our part in building a more coherent grassroots symbiotic community of people around Australia making a real difference with herbal medicine.
The Elder Tree is in the planning phase of creating Australia’s only herbal medicine school. This will be a place where learning and healing come together. We will be creating supportive learning environments where students can learn about herbal medicine in a tactile and embodied way. The educational spaces we create will be in classrooms and on the Earth. We will bring educators from around Australia and internationally to teach many pathways of herbalism- herbal medicine growing, making, clinical herbalism, community herbalism and much more.
As we work toward this goal we have national herbal projects like The Elder Tree Podcast, which has been created to share the wisdom of various inspirational herbal lore keepers from around Australia. We run regular events showcasing members of the Far North community who are creating positive change. We also welcome in various teachers into our community who have beneficial skills to teach, supporting resiliency and community-sufficiency. Kate Raffin is one such teacher, teaching such valuable communication skills which are at the foundation of any thriving community.
