Norma Rae (1979) - Film screening
Event description
Please join the Hunter Workers Women's Committee for a free screening of Norma Rae for Newcastle's 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.
Norma Rae (1979) is an inspiring film based on real life events. It tells the story of Norma Rae (Sally Field), a single mother and textile factory worker in North Carolina. After she and her co-workers' health are compromised due to poor working conditions, the film tells Norma's journey to becoming a fierce union and feminist advocate.
It will be a low-key night to kick back and enjoy the film and talk all things union and feminism.
Special guest speaker TBA.
Light refreshments and snacks will be provided but feel to BYO: a cushion, your own drinks and snacks, or whatever will make the night more comfortable for you!
After the screening, all are welcome to join the HWWC for a drink and a chat at Bernie's Bar across the road in Devonshire Lane.
