North Canterbury Music End of Year Student Concert
Description
Emma Smetham and Jonathan Densem of North Canterbury Music Ltd, returned from professional performance careers here and overseas to share the joy of music with budding musicians. The pair teach at seven schools in North Canterbury as well as from their home studios in Springbank.
This concert is a celebration of the joy of learning music no matter where the student is at in their music journey. Students performing range from 5-year-olds to adults. Performers include beginners performing at their very first concert (some after only a few weeks of learning), right up to those preparing to enter performance music programmes at university. For some the preparation has been a few weeks - for others the preparation has been much of the year.
The concert includes solo performances of singing, violin, recorder, guitar and piano. It also includes performances by Jonathan's Glee Clubs - the tiny tots group, the youth group, the teen group as well as available members of his Adult Glee Club. Emma's students are also featured in the Emerging and Advanced bands.
North Canterbury Music continues to grow, necessitating a move this year to the lovely Kaiapoi High School auditorium. This venue offers a big improvement in sound quality over previous venues. In addition, despite its size, the connection between performers and audience is much improved.
Don't miss this wonderful celebration of these budding musicians!
