Northern Burn (Camping Weekend) 2026

Northern Burn is a volunteer-run, not for profit, family friendly camping event based on the Burning Man 10 Principles. Find out more about our principles here:  https://kiwiburn.com/the-event/culture/guiding-principles/

This is a participatory experience of community, art, nature, workshops and performance. Please note this Burn is a lower decibel event and follows a strict sound policy. This is so that other art, music and performance can emerge from within our community. We reserve the right to cancel entry or eject attendees that engage inappropriate, offensive or disruptive behaviour.

The location is about 40 minutes inland from Whangārei.

We hope to see you from 4PM on Friday April 3rd with the final night being Sunday April 5th.  People must be packing out by 10AM on Monday the 6th of April.

Bring your own camping gear, food and refreshments.  There will be nothing for sale at the event.  Attendees will be sent a 'Survival Guide' to help you plan what to bring, what to expect and tips for how we can co-create this experimental camping weekend together.  There will be a freezer for freezing water bottles for chilly bins, so bring your own plastic bottles to use this amenity.

There will be no potable water on-site.  You will need to bring what you need.

We encourage all attendees to be 'participants' sharing your amazing self, workshops, performance, art or form a theme camp.

Your camping pass is a donation towards making this camping weekend possible. and will cover basic infrastructure, camping fees, and art grants. Any surplus generated will help us provide future art grants and financial backing for future events.

We need your details…
Please ensure Adult 'camping pass' names match relevant identification (e.g. drivers license).  An email address is essential so that we can keep you up to date with essential information about the event.  Emergency contact information is required for each ticket holder.

Youth and Child camping passes
Attendees under 18 must be accompanied by an adult parent/guardian who has made their own adult donation.

What if the event is postponed or cancelled ?
There are many unforeseen reasons which could impact the planned event date.  Top of our list is the risk of extreme weather impacting the event before, during or immediately afterwards.  If the event needs to be rescheduled, your camping passes will be valid for the rescheduled date. If you are unable to make the rescheduled date, then we will offer refunds. We intend to offer 100% refunds (less Humanitix booking fees/costs which are around 6%, and any other incurred non-refundable costs such as site or hireage fees).

What if I can't come after I already paid for a camping pass?
Up until Friday 27th March, tickets are refundable via the Humanitix website. If you need to cancel after the 10th due to an emergency, contact us at info@northernburn.org

Pets & other furry creatures:
No animals are permitted on site.

Vehicles:
One vehicle pass is required per vehicle.  If you are towing a caravan, you also need to add the (free) Caravan Add-on to your ticket order.  Long wheel-base vehicles, such as busses, may not be suitable for the site.  If you have questions about your vehicle, please contact us at info@northernburn.org

VIP Passes - Voluntarily Inflated Price Pass - this is an additional donation option for those who have the means to gift more to Northland Burner Arts. Our general priced ticket is by default a cheaper ticket keeping in mind the region this event is in. If you are able to pay more, then we invite you to do so.

Agreeing to the Code of Conduct is required for attendance.
