Northern Sydney Local Health District - LGBTIQ+ Health Symposium
Event description
This year Northern Sydney Local Health District is hosting an LGBTIQ+ Health symposium. This event aims to showcase current research and policy on LGBTIQ+ Health and best practices for inclusive healthcare, and encourage a co-production approach where the experiences of services users are incorporated into service planning.
The theme for this year will be Healthy Ageing for LGBTIQ+ People to acknowledge the unique challenges faced by our ageing LGBTIQ+ population who have fought hard for the right to exist and now deserve to be well-supported as they enter into ageing and aged care services. There are significant gaps in research, policy, and services to best support older LGBTIQ+ people. NSLHD hope to bring these issues to light and facilitate discussion about how to address them. This is particularly relevant to Northern Sydney as we have a rapidly ageing resident population when compared to the rest of the state.
The event will be hosted on Friday the 10th of October from 8:30am to 3:30pm in the Kolling Building Auditorium, Royal North Shore Hospital, St Leonards NSW.
Please RSVP if you plan to attend in person or online.
