Not just commuting: how active mobility can boost our quality of life

A 2025 Cyclonats Festival of Cycling Culture event, presented by Canberra by Bike Design Company and Smith's Alternative

Hear Teije Gorris, a visiting Dutch expert in road safety and bicycle infrastructure design, share the big picture of how active mobility is mending both people and cities around the world. You'll see examples from across Europe, the Phillipines, Japan, and even 1940s Canberra, as featured in our banner image.

We'll also screen an abridged version of the Dutch documentary, Together We Cycle, which explains how groups of people fought back against children's traffic deaths and car dependence to revive its cycling culture and create a society that's one of the healthiest and happiest in the world.

There will be plenty of time for discussion about how we can build for the cities we want, not the cities we have.
