Strengthening Pastors for the Journey

Pastoral ministry can lead us to moments of sheer delight -seeing tears of joy at the baptism of a young person, noticing the smiles on the face of a person freed from addiction, knowing that God is speaking through you in ways you never expected. But there are also times when ministry can lead us to feeling overwhelmed emotionally, isolated relationally, mentally exhausted and physically tired. It is in these times that it can be more difficult to stay the course.

Elijah was a man of God, and he felt like this, so it’s not surprising that we can too. No matter how we might feel today, God wants to come beside us and give us good gifts, speak to us if we will slow down to listen, restore us and give us strength and direction.

This Nourish you are invited on a journey through 1 Kings 19 to learn with Elijah how to be restored and to gain resilience in ministry. We encourage you to come ready to connect and share with others, make use of the space, listen to God’s whispers and be ready to respond to the things God shows you.

If you are unable to make it to the venue we are offering a live streaming option to watch the conference and then connect with others who are also online during the breakout/discussion times.

PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS WORKSHOP

Our Positive Duty to Respect Others

As followers of Jesus, we are called to treat others with sensitivity and respect. In addition to this personal responsibility, organisations, including churches, have a legal obligation to prevent sexual discrimination, harassment, and victimisation. The new positive duty was introduced in December 2022. This important change requires organisations to shift their focus to active prevention rather than responding only after an incident or complaint occurs. In this workshop we will discuss our faith and legal duty to respect others and how this might be carried out in church life and ministry practice.
