Professional Standards Workshop

Topic: Relating Interculturally with Respect

We live and serve in an increasingly diverse cultural context. Within our churches and across our Union, people from different cultural backgrounds are seeking to build fellowship and do mission together. This presents us with the challenges and opportunities of relating interculturally. The BUV Code of Ethics for Pastoral Leaders calls us to conduct these intercultural relationships with respect, honesty, justice, and compassion. This workshop will address mutual respect in intercultural relationships at the interpersonal and congregational levels.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER:  Rev Dr Ian Dicks, Lead Pastor of Moonee Ponds Baptist Church and Senior Lecturer Intercultural Studies (Adjunct) at Tabor College.  Ian has over two decades experience serving in culturally diverse settings here and overseas.

A culturally diverse panel of Pastors will share some key insights about intercultural respect from their perspectives and experience.

Date: Friday 17 October, 2025
Time: 3.30pm - 5:00pm
Venue: Syndal Baptist Church, 588 High Street Rd Glen Waverley
Price: $20 (plus booking fee)
Attendance at Professional Standards Workshops will count towards BUV Pastoral Accreditation.
