Nourish Workshop Series: Cooking on Country with Nornie Bero
Event description
Cooking on Country is a hands-on cooking and educational workshop that invites participants to slow down, connect with Country, learn about regenerative farming, harvest organically-grown produce, and then prepare a healthy meal. Co-hosted by renowned Chef, Author and Founder of Mabu Mabu, Nornie Bero as well as the Farm My School Co-Founder and CEO, James McLennan.
The day will conclude with a communal dining experience.
This is a special and extended Nourish workshop being held as part of the Tastes of Greater Geelong festival.
The morning will commence with an Acknowledgment to Country, then onto a tour of the farm with James to learn more about Farm My School and regenerative farming practices. Participants will then be invited to pick herbs and vegetables to prepare a meal under Nornie's guidance.
Nornie is from the Komet Tribe of the Meriam people of Torres Strait. She has been a chef for over 25 years and now heroes native ingredients in her restaurant, Mabu Mabu.
The Nourish workshop series has been designed to help families unlock affordable ways to grow and cook simple, nourishing food. Run by renowned chefs and our own Farm My School team, these workshops will encourage simple and practical ways to think about food growing, health and wellbeing.
Farm My School is a not-for-profit organisation that collaborates with schools to promote healthy eating, ecological stewardship and connected communities.
