Novel Minds Book Club
Event description
Calling all novel minds, the Book Club you’ve all been waiting for is here!
Our book for the month is Giovanni's room by James Baldwin.
James Baldwin’s Giovanni’s Room is a groundbreaking novel set in 1950s Paris, following the emotional journey of David, an American grappling with his sexuality and identity. As he becomes romantically involved with Giovanni, an Italian bartender, David is torn between societal expectations and his feelings. The story explores themes of love, shame, and self-acceptance, offering a powerful and poignant look at desire and the struggle to live authentically.
