October BIPOC Therapist Social
Description
BIPOC Therapist Social
Come join us at McCarren Parkhouse for a BIPOC Therapist Social!
This is an opportunity for BIPOC Therapists to breathe, share, and be in community with others who understand the unique weight we carry in this work. So often, we pour into others while holding the complexities of our identities, often in isolation. But healing work isn’t meant to happen alone.
Whether you're a seasoned therapist, just starting out, or somewhere in between, you are welcome here.
Presentations:
Play by Play: Engaging couples and families in somatic and movement therapy to move from rupture to healing, integration and intimacy by Sanchana Krishnan (she/they)
When words aren't enough to repair relational fractures, bringing body awareness and dramatic enactment into couple and family therapy opens new pathways to healing. This presentation offers practical somatic and movement techniques—tailored for both in-person and telehealth settings—to track implicit body cues and regulate defensive reactivity in real time. Clinicians will learn a paced "slow burn" model that guides clients from acute rupture into safety, genuine connection, and embodied intimacy. Finally, discover how fusing psychodrama with AEDP portrayals helps partners recognize, externalize, and deeply heal each other's vulnerable inner child states.
Here Are 5 Ways Therapy Can Be Made Better for Autistic Folks by Tatyahna Costello (they/all)

A little bit about our presenters :)
Sanchana Krishnan (she, they) is a therapist and artist whose approach to therapy mirrors their approach to life; with unabashed curiosity and a desire to understand the nuances of human experiences that contribute to both strengths and suffering. Instead of taking a siloed modality-based approach alone, they integrate the sciences of human psychology and trauma sciences with the artistic practice of therapy. They have an MA in Mental Health and Wellness Counseling (dual degree - LGBTQ+ counseling track) and a certificate in expressive arts based therapy from Fortis Hospitals and UNESCO-CID. In addition to providing therapy to adult individuals, couples and families, she is a clinical supervisor and an experiential assistant for trainings at the AEDP Institute.
Tatyahna (aka Rox) Costello (they/all), is a licensed master social worker, healer, reiki master, spiritualist, and organizer. They are also the Co-Founder and Co-Executive of The Love Practice, a healing justice organization based out of Philadelphia. Much of their work has been centered on liberation, healing, and justice for BIPOC, queer, trans, kinky, polyamorous, and neurodivergent individuals. They also are a creative interested in fashion, collaging, and dreaming of a better world. For fun, they like to read, go to the beach, hang out with friends, and dance!
