Open Studios Artist Residency 2026–2027
Applications are now open!
We're seeking innovative artists with exciting project ideas to join our shared studio residency at The Arts Village during December 2026 and January 2027.
Since 2011, the Open Studios Artist Residency has provided artists with shared studio space, materials, and dedicated time to develop new work. We welcome projects that enrich both artistic practice and the wider Rotorua community.
The Arts Village is Rotorua's community arts hub, where creativity brings people together. Over the past 15 years, the residency has supported 66 artists, and at least 4 artists will be selected this year.
What is an Artist Residency?
An artist residency provides time, space, and support to develop creative practice, explore new ideas, and connect with fellow artists and the community.
We encourage applications from emerging and established artists working in any medium who are eager to experiment, collaborate, and create.
