Event description

The NSW Fall Prevention & Healthy Ageing Network Annual forum provides an opportunity to learn about the latest on fall prevention. Listen to experts in their fields provide an overview of recent fall prevention research, quality improvement in residential aged care and fall prevention in hospitals and emergency care.

In-person tickets will also include access to the live-stream on the day in the event you cannot attend. Live stream includes all plenary sessions, the afternoon split sessions and the afternoon research update and panel session.

Dedicated lunch-time poster session

Abstract submissions will have the option of an oral or poster presentation. A dedicated poster presentation will take place during the lunch break.

Afternoon concurrent sessions include:

Best practice fall prevention programs within the hospitals

A range of presentations focusing on quality improvement in the hospital system to prevent falls will be given. This session aims to show how falls can be prevented in the hospital and highlight key issues that have arisen within different hospitals across the state.

Community Settings

This session will provide an insight into the prescription of exercise for older people in community and hospital outpatient settings, including practical skills for designing and delivering exercise programs for fall prevention.

Residential and Community Aged Care

This session will highlight exercise programs and other strategies implemented by Residential and Community Aged Care providers to help their clients stay healthy and active.

Research Update and Panel Session

An afternoon session providing an overview of the latest research updates for fall prevention. This will be followed by a panel including plenary speakers discussing how we can best bring evidence-based research into clinical practice.
