Description

Please join us to celebrate the launch of Nunngoorie: Journey to Culture, the incredible memoir by Gary Knapp as told to Margaret O'Brien.

'I can hear my motherland say, ‘Come to me, my heart is open. I will always be around for you.’

As a child, Gary Knapp was removed from his loving family to Roelands mission, about 150 kilometres south of Perth. He was one of almost 500 Aboriginal children who suffered at the hands of missionaries. Nunngoorie: Journey to Culture tells the story of his long journey to healing and self-discovery as he sets out on an odyssey; across the Nullarbor, through the heart of central Australia and towards the Western Desert, as he meets his kin and learns the secrets of the traditional healers.
