A Deep Stillness: A Winter Solstice Daylong Retreat
Description
The winter solstice is an opportunity, and an invitation, to pause, to rest, to turn inward, and to reflect. The word "solstice" comes from the Latin solstitium, meaning "sun stands still," and during this stillness, we can open to the darkness of winter while also welcoming the coming of light and the new year ahead. During the middle of the holiday season, this retreat offers participants the precious space to slow down, settle in the body, relax the mind, and open the heart. Join Mike Coughlin and our NVIM community for this day of practice, inquiry, renewal, and connection. This daylong will include periods of sitting and walking meditation, stillness and movement practice, Dharma reflections, and a Winter Solstice ceremony. It’s suitable for both beginning and experienced meditators.
Please bring a lunch, a water bottle, layers, and appropriate clothing and shoes for outdoor walking meditation (weather permitting). Hot tea, water and light snacks will be provided. Chairs and cushions are available but you are welcome to bring your own.
Please note: this is an in-person event only.
