NVivo Research Foundations Series (Nov 2026)
Description
A practical introduction for researchers who are new to NVivo and want the critical start-up skills needed to create a project, organise data, begin coding and document their research. These interactive sessions include small-step live NVivo demonstrations, immediate hands-on practice, and an NVivo Research Journal created using Memos. All practical activities use approved de-identified training datasets available within the NVivo training program and authorised for training purposes. Participants are not required to upload or share their own research data.

Who Should Attend
Academics, higher degree by research students, industry, government and research-support participants who have not used NVivo, have only opened it briefly, or need confidence with the first stages of setting up and working in a project.
Prerequisites
No prior NVivo experience is required. Participants need access to the supported NVivo (Version 14 or 15) environment and Zoom, completion of the software and file-readiness check and access to the approved de-identified training materials. A full-function computer is required. A second screen is strongly recommended for live follow-along learning.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this preview series, participants will be able to:
Explain what NVivo supports and what remains the researcher’s responsibility.
Create, name, save, close and reopen an NVivo project.
Recognise the roles of files, cases, codes and Memos.
Import, organise and verify approved de-identified training materials.
Create initial codes and code meaningful passages.
Review and correct coded material.
Create and use a Research Journal Memo.
Identify the next NVivo skills needed for an approved research or evaluation project.
How can I contact the organiser with any questions?
