Celebrate the eve of 2025 New Year with Harmonic Tides, an extraordinary musical experience at Sailors Grave Brewing in Dunetown.

This unique event brings together the world-class talents of Christina Christensen (cello) and Niels Bijl (saxophone) and new comer Lily Flynn (soprano) in a program inspired by maritime heritage and Sailors Grave Brewing’s connection to the coastal community.



About Christina Christensen

Christina Christensen is a Danish-born Australian cellist, composer, and educator renowned for her innovative and evocative artistry. 

A classically trained musician, Christina studied at the **Royal Danish Academy of Music** and the **Sydney Conservatorium of Music**, performing with prestigious ensembles such as the Copenhagen Symphony Orchestra and Sydney Ensemble. Her performances combine technical brilliance with emotional depth.


About Niels Bijl

Niels Bijl Born in the Netherlands, Niels Bijl looks back on a vibrant and extremely successful career in Europe, and, since January 2020, embraces a new and exciting life as a performing artist, chamber musician, collaborator, project organiser and lecturer in Victoria, Australia.

Some of Niels’ career highlights include working with legendary conductors Valeri Gergiev, Lorin Mazel, Mariss Jansons and Jaap van Zweden, with orchestras like the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, World Orchestra for Peace and Anima Eterna. CD recordings with his world renowned Aurelia Saxophone Quartet, recorder player Ronald Moelker and saxophonist Jay Byrnes.

Since his arrival in Australia Niels has started collaborations with the MSO, Musica Viva, Orchestra Victoria, Melbourne Recital Centre, Melbourne University, Monash University, VCA Secondary School and residencies at ANAM, Tempo Rubato and Brighton/Bayside Council. Amongst his most precious collaborations are his duo with harpsichordist Peter hagen, pianist Georgina Lewis,  the ASHA Trio and The Australasian Saxophone Collective.  Sharing his passion and knowledge with future generations, Niels has also set up statewide educational projects with The Clinch Academy and The Baritone Institute Australia. Niels Bijl is Saxophone Specialist and Ensemble Coach at St. Paul's Giippsland and teaches saxophone at VCASS (Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School).


About Lily Flynn

Lily is currently completing her Honours degree in Music, classical voice at the Melbourne Conservatorium. Her experience and dedication as a soloist and ensemble singer across Melbourne is vast, including solo recitals with Coady Green at the 2024 Fortyfive Downstairs Chamber Festival, her work with Vox Plexus for the 2023 Port Fairy Spring Festival, and with the Melbourne University Masters student’s productions including Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel, Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte. While her love for music is rooted in composition and Anglican choral singing, her passion for Opera and Art Song was developed at the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School where she studied with Timothy Reynolds for four years, and occasionally with Carrie Barr and Dermot Tutty. Alongside her Bachelor she studied with Suzanne Johnston and now studies with Anna Conolly while completing her Honours. Under Anna’s guidance, Lily aspires to pursue a career in Operatic performance.
